The world of possibilities…

bodusyuitFabric is not only a piece of cloth weaved fibres. Fabric is a world of possibilities. It becomes a platform to transform frustrations into successes, ideas into conversations. It makes our heart beat faster. It’s an attraction hard to explain. So subjective in terms of taste that could be divisive but in the contrary, it unities all. We all have a few favourite fabric hunting grounds. From local markets to big online stores, where can fill our house with of possibilities.

When I’m not sewing you will find me gathering materials for possible next projects. Some fabric finds will be given stash status, others are immediately grouped into project kits and others cut immediately. Love first sight, right?

I would love to discover new fabric and notions shopping grounds (physical or online). Would you share your favourite spots and why you love them so much?

  • What can I say – my favourite fabric stores are now all in Japan! I’ve had such a wonderful time looking through them all, and I’m collecting all my fabric store guides here now (the Japan one will go up on Monday!): http://www.cashmerette.com/fabric-store-guides.

If you can’t make it in person though, I highly recommend the Miss Matatabi store on Etsy – she has all the best Japanese fabrics in stock.

    • I been pinning all your Japanese finds because I’m planning to visit it some day. Sigh. So many amazing stuff !

  • My new found favorite is Vlisco. The vibrancy of the fabric patterns and colors pretty much jump right into my shopping cart! http://www.vlisco.com/

  • So many possibilities!

I’m hoping to get to another fabric market here in Shanghai soon, because when I first got here I walked down the back way from the train station and just saw oodles of fabric ‘shops’ with their wares all out on the street… like mountains of fabric offcuts piled up along the gutters… insane… I’ll have to photograph! Looking forward to reading more of your comments here, especially the online shops!

  • I always start my fabric search at Fabrics Galore in Battersea, the head to Soho – the cloth shop & Liberty, going to try Church street market (by edgware road) next saturday as its said to have a good fabric stall.

  • My favourite online ones are http://www.thesweetmercerie.com and http://www.prettymercerie.com … Lovely fabrics, great quality and amazing customer service!
