Blogs are a great learning resource and sewing books are the perfect complements. So many projects to try and new techniques to learn. I love them. September may not be Uk’s national sewing month but with all the giveaways I’m having over here It well might be. At the moment I am balancing three books – a re-read of “The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August”, highly recommended; my new acquisition – “All The Light We Cannot See”, which is heartbreaking and beautiful; and finally Norma Loehr’s Demystifying Bra Fitting & Construction as I try to tackle my latest can’t-do-this of sewing. Jeans done, workout wear done (thanks Fehr trade!) but the perfect home made bra still eludes me…

    I have three books on the go beside my bed and they are; The Legacy of Elizabeth Pringles by Kirsty Wark (excellent thus far), The Other Side of the Bridge by Mary Lawson (good but I keep getting bogged down by what I perceive to be slow bits) and A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler (always takes me ages to read any of her books as it seems my reading mind has to be in the mood for her strangeness.) This one is interesting….

    I am about to give up on the book I am currently reading because it’s just too slow for me! But the last book I read was BRILLIANT: The Red Chamber by Pauline Chan. If you like stuff like Memoirs of a Geisha then this is way better.

    Ha well, I am reading a lot of stuff! Making Luna Lapin by Sarah Peel which has the best patterns for rabbits and clothing. Super sweet patterns and amazing instructions. I’m reading a book about how to have a healthy marriage. Another called 90 minutes in heaven. And lastly I’m perusing From stitches to style from The Great British Sewing Bee. Phew! That’s it!

  • currently i am reading knitting yarns by ann hood and miss peregrines home for peculiar children. i would recommend both of these as they are such great reads. the first is lots of different stories from knitters and how they got knitting and then the second is a very addictive story with dramatic pictures to aid your imagination. thank you i always love sharing what i am reading.

    My husband got the first Jack Reacher novel for his birthday and when he finished I stole it to read but it was quite intense so I am enjoying tucking into a nice easy read by Cecelia Ahern called A Place Called Here. All about a land where missing things and people disappear too, maybe that’s where all my missing needles and pins go to?! (Whoops!)
