Simplicity 8045 Mint Knit Dress

Simplicity 8045 Mint Knit Dress

simplicitymimigknitdressoffshoulder7 simplicitypattern8045mimisimplicityknitdress8045mimigI’m never sure about wearing pastel colours being of latin background. Olive skin wears better rich dark colours. I generally don’t buy light pastel colours for myself because I fear looking washed out. Most of solids colour fabrics I own are either white, navy or red. Rosie from DIY couture was destaching some of her sewing room fabrics before moving house. I liked the description and weight of this jersey and felt I need to be adventurous on my colour choices.

Pattern is MIMI G simplicity 8045. A long or short fitted dress with a gathered off the shoulder neckline and 3/4 length sleeves. Side seams are also gathered with an elastic. Mimi has a video sewalong on Youtube. I made View B size 14 (My Big 4 size FYI) without modifications. simplicity-dresses-pattern-8045-envelope-front

This pattern was really easy and quick to sew. I wore a few times, including to Rosie’s book launch party. The collar folds over the bust but as you move your arms the collar keeps moving up/ Unless you leave the collar resting on top of your bust as the pattern picture. I prefer to wear it a bit higher. I would like to remove the rushing next time. Overall I I love the dress and I want to make this pattern again. The book launch was in Shoreditch. A super cool area of London. Our handmade outfits fabrics matched so nicely. I can see myself mixing mint and coral on a project. Feels nice to be adventurous on colours.

I have olive skin tone too so I understand preferring rich colors. However, this mint color does look great on you!
