2019 Trend Report: Mix Prints AS SEEN ON Versace, Dolce & Gabbana , Roberto Cavalli, Preen & Balenciaga
For my Asian holiday Adventure I wanted to sew a few stables for a stylish 25 days away. Im finally back and inspired to dust this space and get back sharing my projects. The first stop of my holiday was Dubai which inspired me on the fabric palette.
For the fabrication of the fabric I was inspired by a huge 2019 fashion trend: Mismatched Prints. I love mixing prints and having it as a trend just amplified my desired for it. Accordingly to Vogue “prints should be worn all-over, clashed merrily and madly with little concern for what goes with what.” Always pick an unifying element when choosing bold fabrics. For more tips on how to mix prints you can read my free article for Modern Sewing by Hantex, which kindly sent me the fabrics and pattern.
Construction wise, this pattern is fairly simple. At first I wasn’t going to fully line it ( just the front as the fabric is single faced) but when I decided that a side pocket would suit me better I forfeit all the tidy work I already done by french seaming and used a beautiful blue rayon. Lining does help to add more weight for the fabric which I like.
This is a very lightweight coat and moves beautifully.
For the back flap: I have sewn it and than removed it. The proportions where odd on me since I didn’t lengthen it before cutting.
